Remarks | Specimens collected in shallow, clear, moderate to swift flowing water; also from deeper pools or from under overhanging banks and vegetation. Diet highly variable. Specimens with gut contents primarily macerated aquatic insects and insect larvae, other aquatic invertebrates and very small amount of plant material; some almost entirely of a variety of plant material, especially filamentous algae with less aquatic insect and invertebrates remains (Ref. 41510). |
