Remarks During a two-week survey, encountered regularly in large numbers at depths between 20-50 meters in association with rubble bottoms. Females particularly common, but are easily overlooked as they remain relatively close to the substrate and often mix with females of Cirrhilabrus punctatus, the most common species of the genus in Fiji. Males are seen in areas of more or less solid live coral cover, although adjacent to rubble patches, In 2000, observed at a depth of 27 meters; habitat of rubble, soft corals (Stereonephthya sp.), hard corals (Fungia sp., Echinopora sp.and Acrhelia horrescens), and small sponges (Ref. 52303).
