| Quote | This species has been recognized as Leiognathus decorus (De Vis 1884), but examination of original description by Bleeker 1851, specimens RMNH 6140, 8125 and BMNH 1880.4.21.141-142 and the holotype and paratypes of Equula decora revealed that both nominal species are conspecific, with E. gerreoides as the senior synonym.
