| Quote | Caranx deani (Fig. 29c3) was considered as a junior synonym of Carangoides dinema (see Smith-Vaniz 1999), but the holotype of this nominal species (USNM 51951) has longer straight part of lateral line than curved part and 40 scutes (44 in the original description); thus, this nominal species is conspecifc with C. oblongus. |
